FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION (FAQ)

What does OEM/ODM mean for this 2P MCB? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) means Westhomes produces the MCB under your own brand name, logo, and packaging on the outside while the internal design remains Westhomes' standard product. ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) goes further: Westhomes can modify the product itself — rating range, tripping curve, terminal type, marking, color, or packaging — to match your specific market or panel-build requirements. Both options are popular with distributors, panel builders, and importers who want a private-label product line.

What is the typical MOQ (minimum order quantity) for an OEM/ODM order? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

MOQs vary by customization level: plain neutral product (no branding) can be ordered in carton quantities; basic OEM with your own logo printing on the front plate and custom label usually starts from a few hundred to one thousand pieces per rating; deeper ODM changes (new color, modified terminals, custom printing, or bespoke packaging) typically require higher MOQs to amortize tooling and setup costs. Contact Westhomes sales with your target ratings, packaging, and destination market for a firm quotation.

What can be customized under an OEM/ODM program? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Common customization options include customer logo and brand name printing on the front cover and body, customer product model numbers and rating markings, retail or bulk packaging design, color of the toggle or handle, terminal type (screw, box, or fork), inclusion of accessories (shunt trip, undervoltage release, auxiliary contact), and technical documents translated into the destination language. Larger ODM projects can also adjust the rated current range, breaking capacity, or tripping curve offered.

What does "2-pole (2P)" mean, and where is it used? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

A 2P MCB switches both the line (L) and neutral (N) conductors simultaneously on a single-phase circuit. It provides full isolation of the circuit when the handle is off, which is required or recommended by many wiring regulations for main switches, cooker circuits, shower circuits, and sub-mains. It is also the standard configuration for single-phase distribution boards where a separate neutral bar is not used. Unlike a 1P+N device, a true 2P breaker provides equal contact gap and short-circuit breaking capability on both poles.

Why is the frequency listed as 50Hz / 60Hz? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

The MCB is rated for operation on both 50Hz and 60Hz AC supply systems. Thermal-magnetic MCBs are essentially frequency-independent because their trip elements respond to RMS current and heating rather than to the waveform frequency. This dual rating makes the product suitable for 50Hz grids in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia, and 60Hz grids in North and Central America, Taiwan, parts of South America, and South Korea — a clear advantage for exporters selling to multiple markets.

Which certifications are available to support overseas sales? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Westhomes MCBs are typically designed to IEC 60898-1 and carry CE marking for the EU market. Depending on the destination, additional certificates may be available on request, such as CB Scheme certification (accepted by many national certification bodies), KEMA, SEMKO, or TUF type-test reports for Middle East and African tenders, and local certifications like SASO for Saudi Arabia, INMETRO for Brazil, or SIRIM for Malaysia. Ask Westhomes which certifications the chosen rating and frame size already holds before placing an OEM order.

How long is the lead time for a custom OEM order? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Standard (off-the-shelf) MCBs are usually shipped from stock within days. A basic OEM order with logo printing typically takes 25–45 days, including artwork confirmation, printing tooling, production, aging testing, and packing. More complex ODM projects — involving modified internal construction, new tooling, or type testing — can take 60–90 days. Confirm the delivery schedule with the sales team at order placement, especially for seasonal or construction-project deadlines.

What technical documentation will be supplied with an OEM order? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Standard export documentation includes the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading/air waybill, and a Certificate of Origin (Form A, FTA form, or similar as required). Technical files typically include product datasheets, dimension drawings, terminal torque tables, Declaration of Conformity, and copies of type-test reports or certificates. For ODM projects, Westhomes can also provide installation manuals, wiring diagrams, and English/multi-language user leaflets branded with your company details.

How should I select the current rating and tripping curve for my market? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Match the rated current (In) to the cable ampacity and the maximum load of the circuit, per the national wiring rules of your destination (e.g., BS 7671 in the UK, NEC in the US, IEC 60364 internationally). Choose B-curve for residential lighting and sockets, C-curve for general commercial and mixed loads, and D-curve for motor or transformer inrush. For OEM range planning, most distributors stock 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 25A, 32A, 40A, 50A, 63A in both B and C curves to cover typical demand.

How is quality controlled on OEM orders before shipment? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Westhomes runs routine 100% production-line testing on every MCB, including overloaded trip verification, instantaneous trip testing, insulation resistance, and dielectric withstand. AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) sampling is applied to cosmetic, packaging, and random performance checks, and production batches are traceable by date code. On request, third-party inspection (SGS, BV, Intertek) can be arranged before shipment, and pre-production samples are approved by the customer before mass production starts.
