WCM8 series moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB for short) is one of updated type MCCBs researched and developed by the company by using advanced design and manufacture technology internationally. The rated insualted voltage is 800V (500V for WCM1-63). It applies for infrequent switch of the line of AC 50Hz, rated operation voltage 690V and below (400V for WCM1-63), and for infrequent starting of the motor. The MCCB with overload, short circuit and under-voltage protection fitting can protect the line and power device
from damage. The MCCB is classified into four types individually as Type C (low breaking), Type L (standard), Type M (higher breaking), Type H (very high breaking) according to the rated ultimate short circuit breaking capacity (Icu) ranking. The MCCB is small in volume, high breaking capacity, short flashover (zero flashover of some spare parts), and vibration resistance, is the ideal product for using on land and at ship. The MCCB can be installed verticall (vertical mounting), and horizontally (horizontal mounting).

Low-voltage AC generally refers to 50/60Hz three-phase systems up to 1000V AC (commonly 230/400V in distribution). This 4-pole MCCB is designed for those AC voltages, switching L1, L2, L3, and the neutral. It is not rated for DC unless a specific DC variant is ordered; always confirm the rated operational voltage (Ue) on the nameplate matches the system before installation.
A 4-pole MCCB disconnects the neutral together with the phases, providing a fully isolated circuit for maintenance, preventing backfeed through the neutral from alternate sources (e.g., a generator or UPS), and meeting local wiring rules that require neutral switching on incomers or in TT/IT systems. For simple TN-S feeders where neutral switching is not required, a 3P unit is usually sufficient and lower cost.
In a typical 4-pole MCCB, the neutral pole is either a fully rated pole (carrying the same current as the phases) or a reduced-rated pole (e.g., 50% or 100% of In). Some designs arrange the neutral contact to open last and close first, maintaining neutral continuity during switching to protect loads sensitive to neutral loss. Check the datasheet to confirm the neutral pole's current rating and timing arrangement.
Price depends mainly on frame size (100A vs 250A vs 400A vs 630A), breaking capacity (22kA vs 35kA vs 50kA), trip type (thermal-magnetic vs electronic), and accessories (shunt, auxiliary, undervoltage release). Certification (CE/CCC), order volume, and customization (ODM/OEM branding) also affect unit cost. Larger quantities and direct-from-factory orders yield the most competitive pricing.
As a rough guide, a small 4-pole 100A, 22kA thermal-magnetic MCCB starts at a fraction of a larger electronic unit, while a 630A, 50kA electronic-trip 4-pole MCCB is several times more expensive. Exact pricing depends on exchange rates, order volume, and accessory configuration; Westhomes provides factory-direct quotes so buyers avoid distributor markups.
Yes. A 4-pole MCCB is commonly used as the main incomer in three-phase four-wire distribution boards, buildings, and industrial plants, especially where local code requires visible neutral isolation. When used as a main incomer, select a breaking capacity exceeding the transformer's available fault current and coordinate it with downstream MCCBs or MCBs for selectivity.
Size the phase and neutral conductors to carry the rated current In with appropriate derating for ambient temperature and grouping, using local wiring regulations. The neutral conductor in a non-linear-load installation may need to be oversized due to harmonic currents. Always ensure the cable cross-section and lug size match the breaker terminal rating; undersized lugs cause overheating and nuisance tripping.
Yes. It is manufactured and type-tested to IEC 60947-2 (and equivalent GB 14048.2 in China), covering rated impulse withstand voltage, dielectric testing, and short-circuit performance. The CE and CCC marks confirm that independent certification bodies have verified compliance with both European and Chinese standards.
An ACB is a drawout, air-insulated breaker rated 630A–6300A and used as the main incomer in large substations, while this MCCB is fixed-mounted and typically rated up to ~630A. For installations below 630A, a 4-pole MCCB is more compact, lower cost, and easier to install than an ACB, while still providing 22kA–50kA of breaking capacity. Use an ACB only when the load current or fault level exceeds MCCB capability.
Westhomes supports wholesale and OEM purchases with volume-based pricing, private-label branding, custom packaging, and configurable accessory options. Buyers can specify the 3P/4P arrangement, frame size, breaking capacity, and trip type. For distributor or project tenders, a sample order can be supplied before full-volume commitment; lead time depends on the configuration and order quantity.
