The Westhomes WSB9L combines overcurrent protection and residual current protection in one device. A standard MCB mainly protects against overloads and short circuits, while the WSB9L can additionally detect earth leakage and disconnect the circuit when the residual current reaches its specified operating level.
The WSB9L is designed as a combined protection device, integrating residual current protection with overcurrent protection. In applications where both functions are required in one DIN-rail device, it can be considered an RCBO-type solution. The exact product configuration should be confirmed according to the selected WSB9L model.
The residual current protection function of the WSB9L can help reduce the risk associated with earth leakage and residual currents. A suitable residual operating current, such as 30mA where applicable, should be selected according to the installation design and local electrical requirements. It should not be regarded as a substitute for proper grounding and other electrical safety measures.
Frequent tripping may be caused by insulation deterioration, damaged cables, moisture, faulty appliances, accumulated leakage current, or an incorrect protection setting. The electrical circuit should be inspected to identify the source of the residual current before the breaker is reset repeatedly.
The rated current should be selected according to the calculated load current, cable ampacity, circuit characteristics, and applicable electrical standards. The breaker should provide adequate protection without being unnecessarily oversized. Westhomes offers different current ratings for its circuit protection products, allowing the device to be matched to different applications.
Yes. A DIN-rail earth leakage protection device such as the WSB9L can be used in residential distribution systems when its rated voltage, current, pole configuration, residual current rating, and breaking capacity are suitable for the installation. DIN-rail mounting also makes it convenient for use in compact distribution boards.
Before installation, check the system voltage, rated current, number of poles, residual operating current, short-circuit breaking capacity, wiring configuration, and compatibility with the distribution board. The selected model should match the electrical characteristics of the circuit and be installed by qualified personnel.
A normal load current does not necessarily mean that there is no leakage current. Insulation faults, moisture, damaged equipment, wiring problems, or the combined leakage current of several connected devices can cause the WSB9L to trip even when the total load current remains within its rated value.
A DIN-rail mounted earth leakage MCB provides a compact way to integrate circuit protection into a distribution board. By combining overcurrent and residual current protection, it can reduce the number of separate protective devices required and simplify panel layout and installation.
When the residual current in the protected circuit reaches the device's specified operating threshold, the WSB9L is designed to disconnect the circuit. This helps isolate the faulty circuit and reduce the potential risks associated with persistent earth leakage.
