Reliable Earth Leakage Protection with RCCBs

Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs), also known as Residual Current Devices (RCDs),  protect people and equipment from electric shock caused by earth leakage. These breakers are designed to detect current imbalances and automatically cut off the power within milliseconds, typically between 25 and 40ms.

Westhomes offers a full range of 6kA and 10kA RCCBs, available in 2-pole and 4-pole options. Our models cover current ratings from 25A to 125A, with leakage sensitivity from 10mA to 500mA. Each device comes with a built-in test button for easy safety checks. We also provide low-voltage (LV) versions for use in 110V systems.

All of our RCCBs are designed to meet IEC 61008-1 standards and are best used alongside MCBs to provide complete protection from overloads to ground faults. Whether you’re installing in a residential setup or a complex industrial system, Westhomes has the right RCCB to keep your circuits safe and compliant.

FAQ

What is a Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB)? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

An RCCB is a safety device that disconnects the power supply when it detects a leakage current, usually caused by a fault in the wiring or equipment. It monitors the balance between the live and neutral wires—any imbalance suggests a current is leaking to the ground, which could be dangerous. RCCBs protect people from electric shocks and prevent fire risks due to insulation failure.

What’s the difference between an RCD and an RCCB? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

The terms RCD (Residual Current Device) and RCCB are often used interchangeably. Technically, RCCB is a type of RCD that only detects earth leakage and does not offer overcurrent protection. RCD is the broader category and may include devices like RCBOs, which combine both leakage and overcurrent protection. In most practical cases, especially in IEC regions, RCCB = RCD.

What is an RCCB used for? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

RCCBs are used in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems to provide earth leakage protection. They’re commonly installed in distribution boards to safeguard people and equipment against electric shock and leakage currents. RCCBs are especially important in wet or high-risk environments such as bathrooms, kitchens, construction sites, and outdoor setups.

Which is better: MCB or RCCB? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

They serve different purposes and are best used together. MCBs protect against overcurrent and short circuits, while RCCBs protect against earth leakage. For complete circuit protection, an RCCB should be paired with an MCB. Some applications may also use RCBOs, which combine both functions in one device.

Does Westhomes manufacture RCCBs in-house? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Yes. All our RCCBs are manufactured in our ISO-certified facility with automated production lines. We produce high volumes with consistent quality, offering 2-pole and 4-pole models from 25A to 125A, and leakage sensitivities from 10mA to 500mA. Every product is tested to IEC 61008-1 standards and includes a test button for added safety assurance.

Can I customize RCCBs for my brand or project? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

Absolutely. Westhomes supports full OEM and ODM customization, including private labeling, packaging, and technical parameters. Whether you’re a distributor or an EPC contractor, we help you deliver reliable, branded solutions to your market—on time and at competitive prices.

What’s the lead time and minimum order for RCCBs? plus-square Created with Sketch Beta. minus-square Created with Sketch Beta.

For standard models, our lead time is typically 15–20 days. For customized RCCBs, it may vary depending on the design and quantity. We support flexible MOQs to help growing businesses or regional brands get started without heavy inventory pressure.
